Assessment of problem:

  Focus of interest is on:

1.   How the system is organized

2.   How the systemÕs organization changes over time

3.   That the change in organization of the system over time is subject to chance variation.

What do I mean by chance variation?

-       Repetition of the same procedure (Òrepeated trialsÓ)É

-       Using the same inputs each timeÉ

-       Produces a range of possibly distinct outputs each time.

Behaves like a dynamical system, whose:

-       State is system organization

-       Trajectory (time evolution) is a sequence of organizational changes over discrete time

-       Trajectory is subject to chance variation
